Minister Adelabu Accuses Primate Ayodele of N150M Extortion! DSS Petition Filed! (2026)

Unveiling the Truth: A Spiritual Extortion Scandal

A battle between faith and politics has erupted, leaving many questioning the boundaries of spiritual influence.

Bayo Adelabu, Nigeria's Minister of Power, has found himself in a spiritual showdown with Primate Elijah Ayodele, the charismatic leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church. Adelabu, a former gubernatorial candidate with his eyes set on the 2027 Oyo governorship election, alleges that Ayodele attempted to extort a staggering N150 million for 'spiritual intercession' to secure his victory.

But here's where it gets controversial...

In a series of text messages, Ayodele demanded an array of spiritual items, from 24 APC flags for prayers to 1,000 saxophones/trumpets, with the latter costing a minimum of N50 million. He instructed Adelabu to bring these items by a specific deadline, later extending the grace period. Ayodele justified his requests as divine instructions, repeatedly assuring the minister of his destiny to rule Oyo state.

"I have divine advice for you, sir. Do the vigil, and the angel of God will hear your request by 1 a.m." Ayodele's text message read.

However, Adelabu refused, stating that he couldn't afford such expensive items. In response, Ayodele, during a church service, declared that Adelabu would not become the Oyo governor, claiming his message was a 'warning from God.' He even dared the minister to arrest or sue him.

Adelabu, in his petition to the Department of State Services (DSS), emphasized that his political ambition stems from a genuine desire to serve, not from spiritual manipulation or fetish practices. He requested an investigation into Ayodele's actions, demanding a retraction of the 'false prophecies' and an apology.

"Primate Ayodele's actions have not only caused personal distress but also have the potential to disrupt public peace and undermine the integrity of the political process in Oyo State," Adelabu's petition reads.

And this is the part most people miss...

Ayodele, in a phone interview, claimed that Adelabu initiated the approach, sending emissaries due to his desperation to become the Oyo governor. He denied any extortion attempts, stating, "I discussed terms with him, which he didn't agree with. I can value my services at any amount, as long as I provide the desired value."

The controversy deepens as both parties stand by their narratives. Who is telling the truth? Is this a case of a powerful cleric exploiting a politician's ambition, or is it a misunderstanding blown out of proportion?

What are your thoughts? Do you believe spiritual leaders should have such influence over political aspirations? Share your opinions in the comments; let's spark a respectful debate!
