Kylie Williams is gearing up for a momentous family occasion as she prepares to ride Miss Ziggy in the $1.5 million TAB Karaka Millions 3YO at Ellerslie on Saturday. This will be the third time in her illustrious 30-year career that Williams will be competing at Ellerslie, and she's hoping to make it a memorable one. The Canterbury hoop is also set to ride alongside her son, Logan Bates, who will be on Jigsaw in the Group 1 Sistema Railway. Bates has a strong record on the seven-year-old gelding, having ridden him to victory in his last three starts. While Williams is excited to watch her son compete in a Group 1 on home soil, her primary focus will be on Miss Ziggy. She's confident of a bold showing after her recent runner-up result at the Auckland track. Williams has a good feel for the Ellerslie track, which she believes will favor her filly this weekend. She's also keeping an eye on her home meeting at Riccarton, where she'll be training Leonard in the Riccarton Park Function Centre Maiden. Williams has been training a small team off and on for nearly 20 years and enjoys the different challenges it presents. With her jockey hat back on, she's looking forward to competing at the Karaka Millions meeting and hoping for a family celebration if the results go her way this weekend.
